A new home for the home show
February 27, 2012 - Rob Weaver
While the Seneca County Home Expo this weekend won’t feature informational seminars, the workshops are expected to return for next year’s event.
That’s because planning for the 2013 Home Expo, sponsored by Seneca County Home Builders Association, can begin now.
The home show this year will be in the former Heilig-Meyers location in Tiffin Mall. The former furniture store seems an appropriate place for the Home Expo. Trouble is, it’s also an appropriate place for another retail establishment. And, hopefully, with the mall under new ownership, more tenants will occupy its vacant locations.
That would be great for Seneca County. It’s not so great for long-range planning.
But Thomas Daniel, president of the home builders’ group, said the association has a contract with Tiffin University which would move the expo to the new recreation center nearing completion on Miami Street.
“Next year, we’re going to be in the new Tiffin University complex,” Daniel said. “We’re going to be there for at least the next five years.”
Having a site locked up this far in advance should make it easier for exhibitors to plan seminars. It also means the Home Expo has found a new home.
