Are You A Gobowlfer?

May 6, 2012 - Al Stephenson
In today's edition of the A-T, my column features a proposal that I have for area people. I want to know if there is an interest in having a gobowlfing event. Yes, you heard right. The term, a creation of my slightly warped mind, is a combination of golfing and bowling. They are the two sports that I not only write about, but also pursue with a passion. I enjoy participating in both sports and if you read the column, you will note that I love days when I get to do both.

Thus the proposal.

I am wondering if there are others out there like me. Are there people who like to hit the links? Are there folks who enjoy kegling? I'm guessing that there are many who like both sports. Now whether they want to do both in the same day might just be another question. However, if the event is used to benefit the fight against cancer, might a lot of people want to participate?

That is the question I ask in my column and I am posing it here as well. If there is sufficient interest in staging a September gobowlfing event, I will attempt to organize one. What I need to know is who wants to participate.

As I say in my column, I need people to contact me. Call me, email me or respond to this blog. Tell me you'd like to have fun gobowlfing and do your part to eradicate cancer. Let me know if you think the idea is a valid one.

The view from my seat suggests that a gobowlfing event would be a lot of fun and anytime a charity is the beneficiary of an event - well, let's do it!
