Ol' Doc's Football Forecast Week 6

October 5, 2012 - Al Stephenson
You can't wipe the smile off of Ol'Doc's face as he finally gets all three games right last week. He was heard to say that "it was only a matter of time, given my expertise in pigskin prophesizing." I guess it's better than having him practice medicine!

Ol' Doc picked the Gamecocks of South Carolina to upend Kentucky and after sleeping through the first half the "other" USC records the win. Points were to be expected in the West Virginia-Baylor game, but Doc's prediction of a 45-42 score didn't give enough credit to the two offenses. West Virginia did win though and finally the suggestion that Ohio State would win by a single touchdown at Michigan State was off by, well a TD. The Bucks hung on to win by a single point and Ol' Doc goes to 10-5 on the season.

Now to continue his successful run Ol' Doc has three ranked matchups to forecast this week. Here goes nothing.

#4 LSU at #10 Florida. A scintillating SEC game that will be close. A Les Miles trick play fails and the Gators prevail.

Florida 28 LSU 24.

#5 Georgia at #6 South Carolina. If the above game is not exciting enough for you how about this one in Columbia. If South Carolina starts the way they did against Kentucky, they will not recover. For some reason I think that is exactly what will happen. Georgia takes early lead and hangs on.

Georgia 31 South Carolina 20.

#21 Nebraska at #12 Ohio State. The Buckeyes built a big lead last year in Lincoln only to watch the Huskers come storming back to win. The reverse happens in Columbus as Ohio State remains undefeated with a come from behind win.

Ohio State 27 Nebraska 21.

The view from my seat suggests that Ol' Doc isn't all that confident in any of the picks this week. Another perfect week and he will be hard to live with.
