| | spring-likeJanuary 12, 2013 - Janet DelTurco The beautiful spring-like temperature today brought a spring-like reaction in me! I went down to the basement and checked on the dormant geraniums under the workbench on their shelf and found about half of them with lovely green leaves already, and one with a small pink flower! I took the hint, and put them oin a bucket of water for a few hours to hydrate, and now have potted up the six most advanced. The kitchen windowsill will be filled from now until May when everything goes outside. Checking the vegetable garden I found the garlic still growing well, and plenty of onions that decided to pop up in the fall, although I thought I had dug them all out. I am determined to rip out the raspberries, they are looking at their worst now and make the decision easier. I can use the space for more productive corn, tomatoes or green beans, and do away with some difficult and time-consuming weeding all summer. The birds and children will miss them, but the harvest is not big enough to matter. I know that more snow and ice is yet to come, but it is nice to get a break.
