Tiffin 34, Northern Michigan 28, 4OTs

September 13, 2008 - Zach Baker

Needless to say, much happened since we last saw each other.

As I was preparing to go down to the field, Tiffin led, 28-21, and the Dragons defense had just forced a fumble, which was recovered by Parris Burt.

Tiffin got the ball with three minutes left, but was only able to melt a minute of the clock before punting back to Northern Michigan.

NMU quarterback Carter Kopach led his team on a seven-play, 54-yard TD drive to tie the game with 38 seconds left.

Regulation ended, but the game was just getting started. Each team scored a touchdown on its first OT possession, then fumbled away the ball on the next one.

After Tiffin turned the ball over in the third overtime, it looked like the Wildcats would escape with a win. They drove the ball to the Tiffin nine. It set up a 26-yard field goal by NMU's Anthony Leandri to win the game. But holder Andrew Strobel couldn't handle the snap, and was forced to run with the ball. He ended up getting tackled for a 23-yard loss, and the Dragons were still alive.

In the fourth overtime possession, Leandri's 25-yard kick was blocked by Tiffin's Joe Crawford.

Matt Root ended the game minutes later with a 1-yard TD dive.

The Dragons moved to 1-2 (1-1 GLIAC) and the Wilcats dropped to 1-1.
