TU men v. Michigan Tech

February 5, 2009 - Zach Baker

Michigan Tech leads, 8-5, with 14:35 left. So far, TU's defense has been OK, but it has been burned by a pair of 3's. RobbyStringborn has one, Sean Geary the other.

-At the 9:52 mark, the Huskies lead, 11-9. Brian Scott has hit a pair of early jumpers, and Mohammed Fall has a 3. TU's defense continues to be tough, although it is racking up the fouls. It already has six.

-Back-to-back 3's from Springborn and Georgio Holt have  upped the Michigan Tech edge to 18-11.

It's 21-15 with 5:12 left. The Dragons cannot let this deficit climb into the double digits, and the Huskies keep draining 3's.

-TU trails, 24-17, at the 3:59 mark. Huskies have made six 3-pointers, making this first half feel a lot like the last one I watched.

-Huskies lead, 34-24 at the half. The defense has been generally good, but the Dragons have allowed Michigan Tech too many open looks from deep.

Robby Springborn leads all scorers with 13. Fall has six for TU.

This is the best I've seen the TU men play this year, period. With 14:40 left, the Dragons are coming off a 10-2 run, which cut the Huskies lead to 36-34.

-As we crawl under 10 minutes, Huskies hold a 42-36 lead. Huskies are 12 of 16 from the line, TU is 2 of 4. Dragons have eight team fouls, Huskies 3.

-With 4:42 left, Springborn is taking over. He just hit his fifth 3, and he has 21 points. The Huskies lead, 54-38. TU's Alex Strok has spent much of the second half on the bench, apparently because coach Rodney Martin has been something less than thrilled with his defense.

-Not sure if TU has run out of steam or what, but it is trailing 63-42 with 2:14 left. Strok remains on the bench, and the offense has struggled in the last several minutes,

This one's over.
