Rodney Martin resigns
March 2, 2009 - Zach Baker
Rodney Martin's three seasons were filled with youth, inexperience, and a great deal of losing.
On Monday, the Tiffin men's basketball coach resigned from his position, after going 10-71 in three seasons.
In a press release put out by the school, Martin called his time at TU a "learning experience."
"I worked with great kids in the program," Martin said. "but I wasn't able to get them to perform at the level I thought they could."
It's somewhat disappointing news. Over the last three years, you were always able to see glimpses of what the team could be. But the team was always young. It only graduated one senior --Josh Diaz -- this past season, and Diaz was a bench player.
Lonny Allen wished Martin the best in the press release. I feel the same way. No matter what happened, Martin always talked after games, and was always honest about what was going on with his team.
Martin took over when the team was still in NAIA, replacing D'Andreas James.
