May 16, 2009 - Zach Baker

Biagio Boytim has taken on a new role with Heidelberg's baseball team.

Aside from being the team's first baseman and cleanup hitter, he's also the team barber.

Boytim gave most of his teammates (as well as coach Matt Palm's son, Sam) mohawk haircuts before Friday's regional game with Concordia-Chicago.

"Biagio did all of them," said Heidelberg left fielder Matt Grassley, who was sporting the style. "Then I think Jeremy [Wentworth] did Biagio's."

At Heidelberg home games, Boytim came to the plate to Rick Derringer's song "Real American." The song is known primarily as pro wrestler Hulk Hogan's entrance music.

Maybe Boytim should have used Brutis "The Barber" Beefcake's theme instead?

Just a thought.

Some quotes that didn't make Saturday's A-T story:

Grassley on the way Heidelberg played in Friday's 14-2 win:

"It kind of goes back to how we executed in the OAC tournament, that's what we did today. The execution was there again."

Brian Koehl on his philosophy against the Cougars:

"Make pitches and get out of the inning quick. Try not to give up a number."

"I already had a lot of confidence, but by then [late in the game] I was just in drive. Keep going, straight ahead.”

"I was just trying to give our team a great chance of still winning this tournament."
