Calvert-Woodmore updates

September 11, 2009 - Zach Baker

First Quarter

Calvert takes a 7-0 lead when Dillon Kwita plows in from two yards. Eight plays, 67 yards, all runs. 36 yards for Kwiat on the drive. Then, as I write the sentence, Grant Weirich returns the ensuing kick 90 yards for a TD. But Austin Albright's kick is blocked.

Calvert 7, Woodmore 6 8:20

Vinny Pardi throws to Adam Zahner over the middle for a 48-yard TD score. Calvert leads, 14-6, 3:24.

Through one quarter, Calvert leads, 14-6. But the Senecas are driving, at the Woodmore 24.

Second quarter

Pardi's 4th and 6 20-yard pass over top to Rush Arbogast  scores Calvert's third TD. Then Pardi runs in a two-pointer to make it 22-6.

After Calvert forces a 3-and out, Kwiat breaks loose for a 34-yard TD run. 29-6 Calvert, 7:15 till half.

Same score, 1:06 left. Woodmore is at the Calvert 27. Columbian and Ross are tied at 14 in the second quarter.

Spencer Kerr's 42-yard field goal didn't go off because of a high snap. That and the early kick return by Weirich are all that's gone wrong for Calvert so far. It's 29-6.

Half:

Dillon Kwiatt has 15 carries for 105 yards, two TDs. Adam Zahner has 4 catches, 99 yards, 1 TD catch.

Vinny Pardi is 5 of 7 passing for 119 yards, two TD passes. He has 48 yards rushing.

Third quarter:

The Wildcats have done next to nothing offensively, while Calvert's run first playcalling has set up a big play passing game. Calvert ought to be able to coast.

Kwiat just plowed into the end zone from 15 yards. Third TD of the night. Woodmore just can't stop the Senecas. 37-6 7:47

End of third quarter 37-6. Despite Calvert's success, it's lost 3 fumbles.
