Christmas thoughts

December 25, 2009 - Zach Baker
My first scheduled day at The Advertiser-Tribune was Dec. 27, 2004.

It didn't end up being until the 28th. But safe to say, the five year anniversary is approaching quickly.

One tends to reflect at Christmas, and one realizes they have much to be thankful for. There are the obvious ones: health, family, friends.

But there's so much more than that. While I get to spend the holidays with my family, so many other Americans do not. They are overseas protecting our country.

No matter what my concerns are -- deadline, stories, getting a good game or a good interview, it's days like today when I realize how lucky I really am. For the last 30 Christmases, I have been with my family.

Not everyone has that joy.

To the  troops who are serving, merry Christmas, and thank you so much.

To everyone else, thanks for reading, and have a merry Christmas and a happy holiday season.
