Wayne State at TU women
January 28, 2010 - Zach Baker
Five minutes gone, it's Wayne State leading, 12-10. Tiffin's offense has been sporadic so far, and the teams have been sloppy. But TU seems to have the momentum now after falling behind, 5-0. (14:32)
Jessica Harris has five points, and the Dragons lead the Warriors, 17-16 with 9:39 left in the first half. TU is playing pretty solid defense so far.
I have the Dragons for 11 turnovers so far. Despite this, they lead, 24-22 at the 4:35 mark of the first half. Mandy Jaeb and Karli Mast have each scored five points, which tie them with Harris for the team lead.
Tiffin has turned the ball over 17 times in the first half, but leads, 33-30. How? Free throws. The Dragons have made 14 of 17, the Warriors 1 of 1. The Warriors have five players with 2 fouls. TU had five all of the first half.
Tiffin leads, 42-39 at the 14:53 mark. Harris now has 11 points for TU. Offensively for Wayne State, Deanna Crumpton has 9 points. She has a really nice shot. For TU, you'd like to see it force the issue inside, but this is where not having a powerful post hurts.
-Tiffin still leads, 51-47, but the lead was up to 50-41 moments ago after a Katrina Clark layup. Jaeb has essentially been held in check, with only 10 points. 9:52 to go.
After a stickback by Jessica Harris, TU leads, 58-48, its largest lead of the game. Harris has 13. 6:56 left.
-Harris and Jaeb each have 15. Its Harris play under the hoop that has made the difference tonight. TU leads, 62-50, with 4:57 left.
-The lead was up to 14 moments ago, but Wayne State has run off five points in short order, and its 64-55, so the Dragons aren't clear yet.
For some reason, TU is rushing on offense, and it has led to short possessions. Wayne State has cut the lead to seven and 2:59 left, Brooke Bowers splits free throws to make it six with 2:50 left, but Harris' basket underneath answer.
With 2:14 left, it's 66-58 Dragons, and TU has the ball. As long as TU protects the ball and makes its free throws, it should be fine.
Harris makes another basket and a pair of steals. TU leads 68-58 with 49 seconds left. Should be a Dragon win.
Final, TU 76, Wayne State 61
