Tiffin men vs. SVSU

February 13, 2010 - Zach Baker

With 12:12 left in the first half, SVSU leads, 8-6. Tiffin is playing good defense so far; the offense is hit and miss, but the improved post play is on display here early.

-Brian Scott has hit a couple of treys, and the Dragons lead, 12-11 at the 9:47 mark. It should be noted that neither team scored until about the 15-minute mark. Had the scoreless streak gone a few seconds beyond that, it would have been the first time in my career that the game was scoreless at a media timeout. Another time, maybe.

This is the best I've seen TU play in a long, long time. The Dragons lead 22-15 at the 4:51 mark of the first half. It appears TU has a size advantage, but what's been key is the ouside shot. Barlow hit a pair of 3's. My guess is coach John Hill is OK with the 3's because they are coming off the offense.

It's 30-24 TU at the break. TU is outrebounding the Cardinals, 27-15. If that keeps up, the Deagons will be in a good spot.

SVSU started on a 7-0 run to take the lead in the second half, but TU has recovered a bit thanks to the inside assertiveness of Mohammed Fall. But after a right corner 3 by Sean Romsek, it's 37-36 TU with 15:45 left.

After a Keenan Barlow 3, TU has upped its lead to 40-36 with 14:59 remaining. Brandon Harris just blocked a shot clean. TU defense has been, for the most part, very strong.

With 9:55 left, Tiffin and Saginaw Valley State are tied at 45. SVSU's last four made shots are 3's. TU's coaching staff is screaming to no longer allow them.

Chris Webb's pull-up jumper has given SVSU a 49-45 lead with 7:31 left. TU is missing a lot of stickbacks.

Some horrible TU shots and Saginaw Valley's ability to drain 3's has turned this into a 57-47 SVSU lead. Chris Webb has scored the last 10 points for the Cardinals, TU has rebounded well, and actually done a number of good thing. But if you don't make shots and don't make free throws.(I can think of three situations where the Dragons missed the front end of a 1-and-1), you won't win. 3:35 remains.

It's 57-50 at the 3:24 mark after a pair of Hammonds free throws.

Cardinals had two 3 pointers at halftime, they've hit eight in the second half. Tiffin had six at halftime, it has made one in the second half.

It's 65-52 with 1:17 left. TU was in it, but couldn't overcome bad shooting, both from the floor and the line.
