Heidelberg women v. Wilmington

December 4, 2010 - Zach Baker
Anything get you more set for basketball season than a doubleheader at Seiberling?

This is Wilmington's first OAC game of the year. It is 2-3 overall.

Heidelberg is 0-5, having lost its conference opener to Baldwin-Wallace Wednesday night. The women won't be home again until Dec. 30.

Heidelberg jumped out to leads of 7-0 and 14-7, but Wilmington has rallied. AShelby Kies steal and layup makes it 21-16 Wilmington with 8:33 left in the half.

Wilmington just got a layup from Olivia Walters, its lead is 31-20 with 3:44 left. Heidelberg has been outscored 24-6 in the last 10:04.

Heidelberg trails, 35-24 at halftime at half.

With 16:21 left, Jenny Miller just battled for back-to-back boards to score and cut Wilmington's lead to 10. But Allie Meranda comes back down and drains a 3 for the Quakers. Wilmington appears to have a size edge, but its outside shooting has really hurt HU here. (15:06)

With 9:45 left, HU trails, 48-40. Defense has been pretty good here in the second half, but HU's overall shooting hasn't been good enough to get back in the game.

Wilmington has spread things out scoringwise. Brianna Peters just hit a short jumper, and Wilminton's on a 9-0 run. With 7:39 left, it's 57-40. On the bright side, HU freshman Kathleen Phillips has been very impressive, with 11 points. But even when HU's execution has been there, the shots aren't falling, which has been a problem in past seasons.

Heidelberg trails, 69-53, 1:22 left.
