TU men vs. Wayne State

December 18, 2010 - Zach Baker
On the strength of four 3 pointers, two each by Joe Graessle and Keenan Barlow, TU leads Wayne State, 18-17 with 14:17 left in the first half. Wayne State has gotten a few transition baskets because TU's defense didn't get back in time.

Wayne State has outscored TU 13-1 in the last five minutes. The offense is being stopped cold, and it has turned the ball over in four of its last five possessions. Graessle breaks it up with a drive and a layup and a foul. Three point play and its 30-22 with 8:27 left.

Graessle has four 3s and 15 points, and TU is hanging in, again, down 37-34 with 4:14 left in the half. It's been a 3 parade so far for both teams.

Graessle has made five 3s, Brandon Harris has made a pair of baskets out of transition, and Tiffin leads, 43-42 with 1:41 left in the half.

Halftime, TU leads, 47-44 at the half. First halftime lead in a GLIAC game for Dragons.

TU leads, 57-55 with 14:49 left. Wayne State's Bryan Smothers has been tough for TU to gueard, with a team-high 16 points. It looks like the Warriors are trying to shut off the 3, and as a result, Brandon Harris has been a force up front. He has 10.

Smothers just exploded off a miss to a layup, and the Warriors have extended their lead to 68-63 with 10:12 left.

Looks like Wayne State is starting to pull away. TU's offense has been cold, its made about half its foul shot, and Wayne State leads, 80-69. The Warriors are on a 25-12 run. Some of TU's problems are self inflicted, with some key turnovers and missed shots under the basket. But Wayne State's been more impressive to me than Findlay.

TU has made just two baskets in the last five minutes. TU trails, 84-74, 1:28 left.
