TU men v. Ohio Dominican

February 26, 2011 - Zach Baker
One last time this season from the Gillmor Center. Tiffin looks for a win in its final game, a week after beating Ohio Dominican in Columbus. ODU has three GLIAC wins.

Senior Rafael Cuellar and Brian Scott are starting. Scott usually does not, but he's coming off a monster game against Lake Erie.

Joe Graessle is feeling it. Three straight 3s, and TU leads 9-3 in the early going.

Keenan Barlow cans a wide open 3 from the left corner. TU leads, 16-8 with 14:47 to go in the half. Every TU point has been dramatic -- Brandon Harris slammed down two, Cuellar made a layp and was fouled.

Brian Scott just grabbed a rebound and beat the ODU defense down the floor for a layup. His first points, and a 24-15 TU lead at the 10:14 mark.

With 9:05 left in the half, Dragons lead, 26-18. Jake Mochoskay, who burned TU for 27 points last week, has a 3 so far. Graessle has four 3s and 12 points.

Keith Jackson just drained a 3 from the left wing, cutting TU's lead to 37-30 at the 4:35 mark. Joe Graessle made his first four 3s, but the downside is he has kept shooting from there, and has missed his last four. Heat is a fleeting thing. Scott has seven.

Barlow's hit a couple 3s, as the Dragons have pushed their lead to 44-33 at the 2:11 makr of the first half.

In his final game, Scott is leading the Dragons with 13 points. TU finishes the half on a 16-0 run, and ends the half up 53-33. TU has to remember it was down 18 to Lake Erie and came back to win by one. But a pretty great half for the Dragons.

Tiffin is shooting 58 percent (21 of 36 from the floor), and is 7 of 15 from 3.

Tiffin's lead got as large as 22, but ODU has cut it to 60-44 at the 14:57 mark. TU has missed some foul shots in the early going of the second half.

TU's defense is struggling,as ODU is getting too many easy shots and has cut the lead to 63-52 with about 12 minutes left. Too many turnovers for the Dragons on offense.

Too many times, the Dragons don't get back on defense, and its leading to ODU points. With 9:08 left, Tiffin leads, 67-57, but ODU has two coming from the line.

TU's defense in this half hasn't been there. Karl Finley just got called for his fourth foul, and TU is giving up way too many open looks. What was once a 22 point lead is down to four with 6:46 left.

Joe Graessle's 25 foot 3 and Brandon Harris' slam have bumped TU's lead back up to 74-65 at the 4:35 mark. Harris is so athletic, he has 3 slams, at least three blocks and a number of boards. TU is not out of the woods yet; ODU can score in a hurry, and the Dragons free throw shooting isn't good.

TU drained the clock on its last possession, then Graessle just let one go from long range and missed. ODU answers with a basket, and its 74-67 at the 2:51 mark.

TU leads, 75-70, with 1:22 left. Sometimes this season, TU can't seem to get the "we're behind late" mentality out of their heads, and they take time no time on possessions when they need to take time.

Brian Scott misses the front end of a one and one, then ODU goes back and makes a 2. It's 75-72 with 1:06 left.

The Panthers had a wide open look at a game-tying 3 with 10 second left. It missed, and Finlay was fouled. He has a 1 and won with 7 seconds left. He misses. It's ODU ball with 6.1 left.

ODU travels. Graessle foul shots clinch it.
