At work early for the listeners
By Nick Dutro Staff Writer ndutro@advertiser-tribune.com At 6 a.m. most mornings, I have turned over, looked at my clock and smiled because I still have another hour and a half of sleep. At 6 a.m. most mornings, Russ Snyder already has been at work for an hour and had his first cup of coffee. Snyder, the program director for AM 1600 WTTF, is the first person in the office most days. He sits in the main studio, the walls covered with posters featuring John Belushi from “Animal House,” Lionel Richie and records along the walls including the soundtracks to “American Graffiti” and “Beverly Hills Cop,” busy tapping away on the keyboard. It is in these early hours, when most of Tiffin either is waking up or getting ready for work, Snyder gets the radio station ready for the day. Although still armed with a soundboard, the computer and Internet have become important tools for modern radio stations.
