Public Works gets new leader
Mike Hoffman is the new superintendent of Public Works. Hoffman, the former assistant superintendent, was appointed Wednesday, according to City Administrator Wayne Stephens. “We hope to be able to do as good a job as we’ve always done and improve some,” Hoffman said. “Our goal is to respond to people’s requests as soon as possible and do the very best we can.” Hoffman was assistant superintendent for 17 years, and prior to that he was the assistant superintendent at the Water Pollution Control Center. He also worked for 10 years as a supervisor for M&B Asphalt. Mayor Jim Boroff said he has worked closely with Hoffman and has a good relationship with him. “He’s a very cooperative, can-do kind of guy,” Boroff said. “He’s well respected ... and whenever I’ve asked him to do something, he’s done it 100 percent. We’ve made a really good decision to bring him on as superintendent.” Replacing Hoffman is Terry Shuff, who has worked with the city for more than 20 years.
