Despite concentrated efforts to recruit more blood and platelet donors the Red Cross is taking the next step to increase awareness of the need for these donors by offering a summer sweepstakes with a grand prize being a genuine 105th Anniversary Edition Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom from Napoleon Harley Davidson. Currently the Red Cross is having a difficult time keeping blood on the shelves. The Red Cross understands your time is precious, but it only takes about an hour of your day to make the difference between life and death for someone in need. Call (800) GIVE-LIFE today to make a blood donation appointment. “The need for blood is ongoing. We hope to create awareness and remind people of the importance of giving blood and blood products,” says Kathy Smith, director of Donor Services, for the American Red Cross. The region depends on dedicated volunteer blood donors to collect 300 pints of blood every day throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
