Coach: Jeff Phillips, sixth season. 2008: Second place MAL, district. Regional champion. Returning letterwinners: Seniors Kirsten Bumb (throws); Brittany Gifford (pv); Misha Phillips (hurdles); Tresa Schaade (pv). Juniors Shana Hay (sprints); Jessica Phillips (md); Taylor Ruffing (hurdles); Mahalah Schank (lj). Sophomores Corrine Gildenmeister (sprints); Katlyn Nagel (hj); Brittany Stockmaster (distance); Brecka Szablo (md); Brooke Szabo (md). Others: Freshmen Marlee Alt (discus); Katie Depinet (throws); Megan Felter (sprints, lj); Marissa Willman (hurdles). Outlook: As far as ending Carey’s Midland Athletic League supremacy goes, Seneca East has proved to be more than worthy a challenger, taking second by a point and half-point the past two seasons. The Tigers turned it on the last three weeks last season, losing the district title due only to a non-kosher metal hair clip that DQ’d a placer, then carting home the regional title from Tiffin’s Frost-Kalnow Stadium.
