Receiving some extra pampering, while keeping the lines of aging or acne at bay, is now easier thanks to new services at SC Salon, 130 S. Washington St.
Nicki Rumschlag, esthetician and nail technician, has been a part of the salon offerings for about a year. Beginning with nail manicures and enhancements, including gel nails, she said she has begun offering facials, including "back facials" for individuals suffering from acne.
"I do facials that are for anti-aging, acne, exfoliating and manual microdermabrasion," Rumschlag said. "Facials are more like treatments, so that no matter what an individual's skin care concern is, we can tailor it to a facial.

"Most people think that a facial is just cleansing the skin," she added. "It's actually a treatment. It generally takes an hour, and I sell skincare products too."
Offered for purchase is a mineral-based makeup line, although she will apply makeup for a special occasion, such as a wedding or prom.
"Mineral makeup is healthier for your skin," Rumschlag said. "It doesn't clog it. It's just overall better for your skin."
She received her esthetician training and license in Fremont, and her nail technician's license in Perrysburg at the Salon Professional Academy.
Business is picking up, Rumschlag said, having started slowly when she began offering the treatments.
"I don't think in this area people know a lot about facials," she said. "Anyone who has concerns with fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, sun damage, brown spots and acne, facials can help with that."
How often an individual repeats a facial treatment depends on the concern, Rumschlag said.
"Some treatments are once a week, some every two weeks, and I offer a series of six," she said. "Others are four to six weeks. And some people like to come in just for the relaxation."
A mix of clients come in for treatments.
"It is a treatment men can get too, if they are concerned with aging or acne," she said. "It's not just something women can get."
Rumschlag is running a special through the month of June, giving individuals their first gel nail manicure or back facial for 10 percent off.
Other services available are waxing, pedicures, and both gel and acrylic nails.
