Washing machines and other appliances at Sears were being shrink wrapped for storage, as the local appliance store closed Monday.
A sign on the store said the current lease had expired, precipitating the closure, which employees say is temporary.
The plan is to reopen soon in another Tiffin location, said Bill Martin, a Sears employee from Knoxville, Tenn.
He is part of a crew warehousing merchandise, keeping it for a move to another location. That move and the new location should be announced soon, he added.
"Sears is trying to find a new location," he said. "We want to stay in this market, so we are trying to secure a new location right now."
The Tiffin store has been operating at Wolf Creek, 2437 W. Market St., for 14 years. The store has five part-time employees, whom Sears plans to retain after moving to the new location.
Sears representatives will be moving merchandise to storage through Thursday.
