Level Up owner gives week’s profits

November 30, 2010

To give something back to the community after a successful first year, Level Up is donating all profits from this week to food pantries and helping kitchens in the area.

Owner Tom Hayes said he came up with "Games for Grub" to give his support during a time of concern over job losses and the poor economy. He said he is appalled by how the "greed of power and control of a few men can cause the suffering of so many."

Profits from purchases made Sunday through Saturday at the Tiffin or Bellevue stores will go to help the needy.

"I want to help in any way I can," Hayes said. "I think I've been blessed that my business is doing well and I'd really hate to see suffering, because I think we will see more suffering in our lifetime than we can already imagine."

Level Up opened in Tiffin Nov. 6, 2009 after more than four years in Bellevue. Hayes said with Tiffin's larger population and added interest from Heidelberg and Tiffin universities, business has been going well and it has been a busy year.

"I think I picked a good spot to open," he said jokingly. "It's been a really good year."

Level Up is running a contest for customers to come up with designs or ideas for store promotional items . For contest details, visit the store or its website at www.levelupgamestore.com.

Hayes said he may have another "Games for Grub" in the future.

Level Up is at 59 E. Market St. in Tiffin and 121 E. Main St. in Bellevue.
