Newton and Betty Swartzmiller are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner April 8, 2011, at Bubby's in New Riegel and a 10 a.m. Mass April 10, 2011, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Attica.
They were married April 7, 1951, at St. Alyosius Catholic Church, Republic, by the Rev. Maurice Herman.
Newton is the son of the late Mary and Clause Swartzmiller. He is a retired farmer.

Betty, a housewife, is the daughter of the late Helen and Henry Bogner.
They are parents of nine children, Cynthia Alspach of Galion, Rebecca Mason of Republic, Trudy (Steven) Kauffman of Tiffin, David (Denise) Swartzmiller of Attica, Terri (David) Drosky of Republic, Cheri Swartzmiller of Attica, Douglas Swartzmiller of Republic and Scott Halcomb amd Dawn (Randy) Groves of Attica. They have 22 grandchildren, one of whom is deceased, and 21 great-grandchildren, one of whom is deceased.
