SC Salon is to celebrate its tenth anniversary 1 - 4 p.m. April 17.
Owner/operator and hair stylist Erica Meier opened the shop, 130 S. Washington St., with her husband Brad, when he began SportsCuts barbers. The shop has grown to three stylists- Meier, Nikki Ellis and Chelsea Kettlebar - and a nail technician, Nicki Rumschlag, who also does facials and other treatments.
Products will be available to sample at the open house and a 10 percent discount will be available on those products. Prize drawings will be conducted. New clients who make bookings that day will receive 10 percent off.

SC Salon, 130 S. Washington St., is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Employees include Nikki Ellis, stylist; Chelsea Kettlebar, stylist; Erica Meier, stylist and owner/operator; and Nicki Rumschlag, aesthetician and nail technologist.
Meier said the current trend seems to be more natural styles rather than emulating a particular style.
"Color is big, we do a lot of color, dimensional, highlights, low lights, all over color," Meier said. "Color is very big. I didn't do as much when I first opened as I do now."
Each stylist has a branch they promote and they set their own hours. Meier offers Redken products, Ellis sells the Big Sexy Hair line and Kettlebar the Aquage line. A client introduced Meier to "It Works," a line of detoxifying skin wraps. SC Salon will be carrying them and there will be presentations about the product during the open house, at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
"It makes it nice to have that variety here," Meier added. "We do more with product than we did 10 years ago. There are now different products out for different hair types." The salon also caters to male clientele, she said.
Ellis also has a styling niche with hair extensions, that are in a variety of colors and gaining popularity for everyone.
Rumschlag does manicures and pedicures using shellac nails, which last from seven to 14 days. She also does facials, exfoliation and waxing. She uses Axiom nail products and sells Youngblood mineral makeup.
Her hours are by appointment only Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Monday mornings.
