FOSTORIA - The Mennel Milling Co. Fostoria, has acquired the grain elevator assets of Walton Agri-Services Inc., headquartered in Upper Sandusky.
Walton has six grain elevators - in Alvada, Nevada, two in Upper Sandusky, one in rural Upper Sandusky and Wharton. The elevators are to be renamed and are to operate as Mennco Grain, a division of The Mennel Milling Co.
In addition to its wheat flour mills in Bucyrus and Fostoria, Mennel has mills in Mount Olive, Ill.; Dowagiac, Mich.; and Roanoke, Va.
It also has five grain elevators in addition to the new Mennco Grain Division, which are in Mexico, Ind.; West Point, Va.; and Foraker, Kingston and Troy, Ohio.
Mennel operates MMC Transportation Inc. in Ohio and Virginia, and Class 8 Truck Repair Inc. in Fostoria.
The Mennco Grain Division is to continue to be managed by Jack Heim, and is to continue to provide corn, soybeans and wheat buying and handling services for local growers.
