Bailey is new farmland preservation chief

REYNOLDSBURG - Ohio Department of Agriculture Director James Zehringer has appointed Michael Bailey as executive director of the Office of Farmland Preservation.

He is to be responsible for administration of the Clean Ohio Agricultural Easement Purchase Program, the Ohio Agricultural Easement Donation Program and the Ohio Agricultural Security Area Program.

From 2004 to 2007 Bailey served as executive director of the Office of Farmland Preservation before taking on leadership of the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board for ODA. He is to continue in that role.

He received his bachelor of science and master of science in ag economics from The Ohio State University. A combat veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, he serves as an Intelligence officer in the United States Army Reserve.
