FOSTORIA - B&D Truck Parts, Sales & Service is planning to open Monday in the former Graff Automall building, 1498 Perrysburg Road, Fostoria, to fill a need for heavy truck services in the area.

General Manager Terry Lightle said the center will serve local trucking companies, farmers and grain haulers, as well as truckers who pass through the Fostoria area on their routes.

"This area is very short on heavy truck parts and service," he said. "We felt that there's a real need for that type of business in the Fostoria area to not only service the local community, giving them a place for parts and service, but also for the people who break down nearby."

The former Graff Automall building on SR 199, Fostoria, is to be home to B&D Truck Parts, Sales & Service when the store opens Monday.

Lightle said five major trucking routes go through Fostoria.

"Its heavy class A truck traffic with transient people as well as the grain business that's here," he said. "If you have a problem in this general area, there's nowhere to go."

Although no formal research was conducted to determine the amount of truck traffic that goes through Fostoria, in early spring the company started converting the building from car sales and service to trucks.

"If you stand out here and watch, you can see it's a bunch," he said.

The store is planning for a large portion of business to be from local trucking companies, grain haulers and farmers.

The center will offer a complete line of truck needs.

"Basically anything that is class A diesel engine-related from front to back," he said.

A few of the supplies to be available are lighting, oil, filters, brakes, drums, suspension, engine components, body parts and clutches.

The store also services heating and air conditioning, and plans to add a tire center in the future.

"We're going to do our best to supply that to everybody," he said.

Online sales will be added as soon as the website is complete.

"Customers will be able to shop 24 hours a day," Lightle said.

"When we get an order, we'll get it shipped out the next day, maybe even the same day."

The store, at SR 199 and Stearns Road, is to be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
