FOSTORIA?- Guidance counselors for Fostoria City Schools Jocelyn Thomas and Beth Zambori-Sanford were granted tenure at Monday night's school board meeting after previously being non-renewed.
A review of records indicated their eligibility had been met. However, the board did not have that information when the non-renewal took place.
Tenure also was given to Trent Pessel, physical education; Aaron Weidner, athletic director; Lisa Place, preschool teacher; and Esther Garcia-Tio, Spanish teacher.
Due to dropping enrollment, five teacher aides were laid off. The district employs about 35 aides.
In other news, the board awarded a contract worth $32,000 to Midwest Environmental Control of Toledo for the removal of asbestos from Field Elementary School. Following removal, the district is to put a demolition contract out for bid.
It was noted the district is to utilize Ohio School Plan of Columbus for its property, fleet and liability insurance.
