For more than 30 years, B&K Home Medical Services has made many changes to adapt to the needs of its customers and to meet challenges of declining Medicare reimbursement. In order to prepare for additional anticipated cuts, B&K said it is to further streamline operation so it can continue to serve the community.
B&K said it plans to focus more exclusively on oxygen and sleep apnea products. Other products it is to continue to offer include mobility, beds, bathroom safety items, braces, compression hose and supports.
Lines discontinued as of Sept. 1 are enteral, incontinence, urological supplies and mastectomy products. As of Oct. 1, B&K says it is to no longer sell lift chairs and uniforms.
Next week, B&K said it plans to sell the remaining inventory of uniforms at $12.99 each and the lift chairs at 40 percent off the retail price.
Also effective Oct. 1, B&K is to close its showroom at 11 Jackson St. The space is to continue to house some offices and warehouse operations. B&K's sister company, ECS Billing & Consulting, is to expand and take over the remainder of the building.
B&K's Tiffin showroom is to be located at 27 St. Lawrence Dr., Suite 107, which opened a few years ago on the campus of Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
