Nationally-ranked ’Berg extends streaks

WESTERVILLE - Nationally-ranked Heidelberg swept a pair of victories on Saturday, extending a pair of winning streaks against Ohio Athletic Conference opponents.

The eighth-ranked Student Princes beat Otterbein 25-17, 25-12, 25-23 to lengthen their overall win streak against OAC foes to 14 matches and their regular-season win streak in OAC play to 12 matches. They are now 2-0 in the conference this year and 13-2 overall after also beating Columbus State 25-10, 25-12, 25-18.

New Riegel graduate Jackie Reinhart fueled Heidelberg against Otterbein with 11 kills and 11 digs. Marian Bevington also pounded 11 kills, Rachel Ferguson tossed up 19 assists and Alexa Frank had 13 assists. Jacki Street and Amber Welfle each slammed four blocks.

Against Columbus State, Bevington lined 10 kills and Ferguson and Frank matched their assist marks from the earlier match.

Tessa Brenanzer came up with 19 digs, Reinhart had 17 digs and Shannon Coy served three aces.

Student Princes seventh after first day

Heidelberg University's women's golf team ended the first day of the Heidelberg Fall Invitational at Mohawk Golf and Country Club in seventh place.

The Student Princes finished the first day with a 402, led by Heather Lentz's 101.

Destiny Miller (1-4), Felicia Konrad (105), Hopewell-Loudon graduate Rachel Huth (110) and Brittany Greenbaum (156) rounded out Heidelberg's contingent.

Baldwin-Wallace leads Ohio Northern, 336-380, in the team standings.

Baxter scores first in Heidelberg loss

Heidelberg freshman Larry Baxter scored his first career goal, but it was all the scoring HU could muster as it fell to Case Western Reserve 6-1.

Nicholas Samaniego picked up an assist of Baxter's goal. In goal, Ryan Smith made four saves.

Vinny Bell and Eric Erb each scored twice for Case Western Reserve as it improves to 7-1-0 while the Student Princes fall to 2-4-2.

HU women blanked by Kenyon

GAMBIER - Molly Schriber recorded a season-high 13 saves in net for HU, but it wasn't enough as the Student Princes fell to Kenyon 4-0.

Heidelberg tallied eight shots in the game, with three on goal, two coming from Kristen Schneider.

Caddie Durrett led Kenyon with a hat-trick.

Kenyon is now 6-2 while Heidelberg falls to 3-5.

Bowyer tallies two in Dragons' win

COLUMBUS - Lauren Bowyer found the back of the net twice as TU's women's soccer team beat Ohio Dominican 3-0 Friday. Alexandra Sevastakis also scored for the Dragons.

In goal, Lindsay Gallagher made five saves to earn her third shutout of the season. TU (4-3-2, 4-1-1 GLIAC) has not allowed a goal in the last 331 minutes and 32 seconds.

O'Neill's OT goal lifts TU

COLUMBUS - Locked in a scoreless game with Ohio Dominican in the second overtime, Tiffin University got a goal from Michael O'Neill in the 102nd minute that lifted the Dragons to a 1-0 victory Friday. Ashton Campbell picked up an assist on O'Neill's goal.

Jeremy Ashley made six saves in goal to earn the shutout and give Ohio Dominican (3-2-0, 2-1-0 GLIAC) its first conference loss. TU ups its record to 4-2-1, 2-2-1 GLIAC.

TU volleyball falls in four

Tiffin won the first game, but dropped the next three to fall to Ashland 17-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-19 Friday.

Erin Turner led the Dragons with 10 kills while Tiffany Buchinger dished out 32 assists. Lindsay Heller had a season-high 24 digs, good enough to move her up to 11th on the TU all-time career list. Jenkins added 18 digs.
