Skillman-led Rams surge away in second half

September 25, 2011
The Advertiser-Tribune

UPPER SANDUSKY - Derrick Skillman scored three times in the second half to fuel Upper Sandusky's six-goal burst and Justin Miller added three goals Saturday as the Rams stormed past Mansfield, 7-2.

The teams entered intermission knotted at 1 after Miller converted a pass from Skillman for the Rams (9-0) and Mansfield (4-5-2) got an unassisted goal from Colton Henderson.

Miller then scored twice and Skillman followed with three goals in the second half for a 6-1 advantage.

The Tygers snapped that scoring streak with Jacob Boddy's unassisted goal with 5:31 to play, but Upper Sandusky added a Bradley Sipe goal a little more than two minutes later.

William Amert stopped seven of Mansfield's nine shots for the Rams, while the Tygers got 11 saves from Sam Miller.
