All women are invited to attend "If I knew you were comin' I'd have baked a cake!" with Fremont Area Women's Connection.
The event is to take place 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at Anjulina's Catering, 2270 Hayes Ave., Fremont. Cost is $12 and is to include a complimentary nursery available by reservation.
Beth Huber is to be featured and is to present the program "A Bun in the Oven." Speaker Weslie Hintz of Perrysburg is to present "Riding the Roller Coaster of Life."

Yarn Club to gather
BELLEVUE - Bellevue Public Library Yarn Club is to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday. People can take their current project to work on while enjoying the company of others. Extra yarn and needles are to be available for beginners. Members are to help each other learn basic and more advanced techniques.
The next meeting of Yarn Club is scheduled for Jan. 14.
Library starts new program
BELLEVUE - Bellevue Public Library is offering a new program for preschoolers and their parents. Discovery Time is a parent-guided learn-and-play group with various activity stations.
Discovery Time is for children ages 3-5, accompanied by a parent or other adult caregiver. The open-house style programs are one hour in length and are to be 7 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 2, 9 and 23, and 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 3, 10, 17 and 24.
The activities are to vary from week to week. All the activities are to be geared toward helping develop children's early literacy skills through dramatic, manipulative and active play.

Bingo in Bellevue
BELLEVUE - Bellevue Public Library is offering a new program for children ages 6-8. Bingo and a Book is to be offered 4-4:45 p.m. one Thursday a month. The program is to target concepts such as the alphabet, rhyming words, picture words and sight words. Everyone is to have a chance to win. Concluding each session is to be the reading of a short story by the librarian.
The sessions are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2 and March 1.
Book discussion group planas to meet
BELLEVUE - Bellevue Public Library has "Let's Talk About It," a monthly book discussion for adults. The group is to meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 17 in the meeting room to discuss the book "Emily, Alone" by Stewart O'Nan. Copies of the book are available in advance at the adult service desk. GED testing to be offered
Sentinel Career and Technology Center is to offer the General Education Development test 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Test registrants must attend both days. Registration is 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in room 244.
To be eligible to take the GED, a person must submit an online application. The application must be approved by Ohio Department of Education before testing. The fee is $40.
To enroll in GED classes, students are required to attend an orientation where registration forms and placement testing are completed. Orientation is to be offered 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 12:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in room 244 of Family Learning Center at Sentinel.
Classes are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings. For those students with alternative scheduling needs or those who want additional study time at home, a distance education program is available that offers online lessons.
Class times are 12:30-2:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; 9-11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Free transportation is available.

NEW RIEGEL - New Riegel Local School District's board of education is to conduct a public hearing about its proposed fiscal year 2013 alternative tax budget at 7 p.m. Jan. 9 in the library.
