Wood County wildlife officer retires

February 3, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

FINDLAY - Wood County Wildlife Officer Marty Baer has retired after 28 years of service, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.

Baer started working for ODNR in 1983 with the Division of Watercraft. In August 1988, he transferred to the Division of Wildlife as an investigator for the Lake Erie Law Enforcement Unit. Then in 1989, Baer transferred to Wood County, where he has served as wildlife officer since.

"I am sad to see Marty retire because, with him, goes a lot of valuable experience," said Kevin Newsome, Baer's supervisor. "I will also miss working with Marty; his sense of humor made the job more enjoyable. The people of Wood County have been lucky to have Marty for the past 23 years and they can be sure that we will do our best to replace him."
