B&B Food Mart recently opened at Six's Corner, 265 N. Washington St., at the former location of Always Open/Piccadilly Pizza.
B&B offers services and products similar to those of the former business, including convenience items and Piccadilly Pizza, and is a supplier of BP gasoline.
The store "provides the best customer service in town," said B&B owner Jay Bhavsar. Opening the store required hiring three people, Bhavsar said, including two part-time positions and one full-time employee.
B&B Food Mart has an additional location in Fostoria, Bhavsar said, and he chose the Tiffin location because he liked the physical appearance of the site, and customers already were aware of it. The Six's Corner site, he said, is convenient for customers to easily enter and exit the parking lot, and plenty of parking is available.
He said Always Open had a good reputation, and Tiffin itself is reputed to be a safe town.
The location has gotten a "very positive response," Bhavsar said.
B&B will begin advertising more extensively in the spring, he said, to help spread the word that the store is open.
Piccadilly Pizza's menu includes breakfast pizza and sandwiches, lunch and dinner pizza and sandwiches, and hot dogs and soups, he said. The restaurant also offers customers a quiet place to sit with a view outside.
The convenience store offers a selection of frozen food, including ice cream and ready-to-eat lunches and dinners, and a variety of grocery items, including milk, bread, eggs and yogurt. Coffee, cappuccino and doughnuts are available, and Bhavsar said the hot chocolate at B&B Food Mart is "the best in town."
Beer and cigarettes are available at state minimum prices, he said, and wine can also be purchased. The store offers a selection of cigars, which is a unique product at a convenience store, Bhavsar said, and novelty items are available.
B&B also offers a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages, including energy drinks, soda and juice. Any size fountain pop can be purchased for 59 cents at B&B, said Bhavsar, and Razzberry, Orange Frost, Cherry and Strawberry Melonade Polar Shock slushies are available.
Customers also can purchase money orders, pre-paid phone cards and BP gift cards at B&B.
Opening B&B Food Mart, Bhavsar said, is a "platinum opportunity to serve our own local community in Tiffin, and it is our pride and honor to do so."
