Everyday Heroes reservations
Friday is the final day to reserve a seat at the March 23 Red Cross Everyday Heroes luncheon. Seating is limited to 225 people. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the Fostoria office, 115 S. Main St., Fostoria, or Tiffin office in the Tiffin Mall. Tickets also are available at The Advertiser-Tribune, 320 Nelson St., Fostoria Focus, Fostoria Review Times and from any Red Cross board member or volunteer. Shepherd Center to host
Bureau of Concern speaker
FOSTORIA - The Shepherd Center is to meet again Friday at the Good Shepherd Home (lower level) at 725 Columbus Ave., Fostoria. Members and guests are invited to arrive for coffee, registration and fellowship starting at 9 a.m. A nurse from Good Shepherd Home is to handle blood pressure screenings 9:45-10 a.m.
At 10 a.m., Leonard Skonecki is to present "Women of Fostoria," how the city benefited from them. At 11, the group is to break up into three sections, including a travelogue, a current events discussion or a Bible study led by the?Rev. Paul Myers of the Grace United Church of Christ.
A buffet lunch is to be served at noon for those who make reservations before noon Thursday. Call Mary Lou at (419) 435-1482. After lunch, Georgian Widmer, president of the Bureau of Concern, is to speak about what happened to the bureau and why it was eliminated from the United Way of Fostoria.
Learn about renewable energy
The Franciscan Earth Literacy Center on the St. Francis Community campus in Tiffin is to host an adult education workshop, "Saving Creation," set for 10 a.m.-noon Saturday. Experts from Superior Energy Solutions are to offer suggestions on incorporating renewable energy into the family home. They also are to share information about environmental impact of the "fracking" process, which has stirred controversy in several states, including Ohio.

Crafts for sale
Seneca County Opportunity Center craft show is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at 780 E. CR 20 south of Tiffin. The event is to feature more than 50 vendors and crafts created by individuals with disabilities. Children can have a photo taken with the Easter Bunny for $3 each. Admission is free and food is to be available.
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
NEW RIEGEL - The New Riegel American Legion is to host a St. Patrick's Day dance 8 p.m.-midnight. The Booze Brothers Band is to provide music for this BYOB event. Admission costs $6 per person. Refreshments and snacks are to be available. Proceeds are to help hospitalized veterans.
Purchase sweats to help pets
The Humane Society of Seneca County has garments, embroidered with the agency's new logo, for sale at the shelter, 2811 S. SR 100, Tiffin. Zippered fleece shirts are $40 for sizes small-XL and $42 for XXL; hooded sweat shirts are $30 for sizes S-XL and $32 for XXL; and paw-print sweat pants are $22 for S-XL and $24 for XXL.
All net proceeds are to be used to benefit the unwanted animals of Seneca County. The shelter is open 12:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m.-noon Saturday. For more details, call (419) 447-5704.
Have chili with Allen Eiry
The Allen Eiry Senior Center is inviting the public to a chili supper 5-7 p.m. March 22 at 28 Hopewell Ave., Tiffin. In addition to prize-winning chili, the menu includes salad, cornbread, pie and beverage for a $7 donation. Advanced tickets are available at the center, with a limited number of tickets available at the door.
Scholarship dinner planned
Carmie Fabrizio Memorial Spaghetti Dinner is set for 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. March 25. Carry-out meals are to be available 11 a.m.-noon. $10 per meal. Tickets are available at Westgate Barbers, Fabrizio Chiropractic and from Rachel Fabrizio. Proceeds from the dinner benefit the Carmie Fabrizio Scholarship that is awarded to an eighth-grade student entering Calvert High School.
Dinner dance to support EMS
NEW RIEGEL - Friends of New Riegel EMS invites the public to a dinner and dance March 31 at the American Legion Hall in New Riegel. A chicken or pork chop dinner is to be served 5-7:30 p.m. The meal is to include green beans, cheesy potatoes, salad, dinner rolls, a beverage and assorted desserts. Carry-out meals are to be available at $10 for adults and $6 for children. Pre-orders are requested to ensure enough food.
From 8-11 p.m., the entertainment is to be a disc jockey and square dancing for those 18 and older. Admission is $13 in advance and $15 at the door for the dinner and dance. Dance-only tickets are $5 at the door. For reservations and more information, call (419) 595-2078 or (419) 618-7173.
Because of state funding cuts, proceeds from this event are needed to provide training for the squad's volunteers and to purchase equipment for the department, which was established in 1978. Donations of time, cash and raffle gifts also are welcome.
Decorate an Easter basket
FOSTORIA - The Fostoria Community Arts Council is to offer a free children's Easter workshop 10 a.m.-noon March 31 at the 125 S. Main Street office, in downtown Fostoria.
