Seneca County

Preschoolers ages 3-5 with an adult companion are invited on a spring walk at 4:30 p.m. April 9 at Forrest Nature Preserve.

Dress to get messy and find spring wildflowers.

Sandusky County

Sandusky County Park District has scheduled Yo-Yo Quilting for three locations in April.

Bring red, green or brown colored fabric scraps (plain or prints), matching thread and scissors to help make an apple-themed fundraising quilt. No previous quilting experience is needed. Meet 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. April 7 at Creek Bend Farm, 2-4 p.m. April 16 at White Star Park Log Cabin and 4:30-6:30 p.m. April 30 at the park district office.

Children ages 3-7 can meet at the gazebo to hear a story about daytime and nighttime animals, then walk the trail to look for signs of spring. Bring a pillow.

Join fish researchers at 2 p.m. April 14 and April 28 at Creek Bend Farm, 654 S. Main St., Lindsey.

Dress to wade into the creek and assist with ongoing research. Fish traps have captured more than 3,000 fish of 42 species since studies began. All ages are welcome.

Crawford County

An arrowhead and Indian artifact hunt is to take place at 10 a.m. April 7 at Crawford Park District's Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 SR 598.

Learn techniques and strategies to increase chances of finding American Indian artifacts. Families are welcome.

Bring boots if the ground is wet.

Participants are to learn mushroom identification as well as tree recognition and mushrooms associated with them.

A wildflower walk is planned 3 p.m. April 8 at Sears Woods, 1486 Mt. Zion Road, Bucyrus.

Naturalist Warren Uxley is to lead the excursion.
