Pam Depinet, Janice Tschanen and Larry Gosche have planned the sixth annual fundraiser to benefit Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment. The 2012 Commitment Care for Cancer is set for 6-10 p.m. Saturday at Tiffin Moose, 1146 N. SR 53.
"We held our first benefit at Megan's Alpine Inn in March of 2007. That year, the money that we raised went to the Relay for Life. Megan Mizen, owner of Megan's Alpine, who is Pam Depinet's sister-in-law, offered to donate the use of her business for the benefit. That year, we raised $3,000 for the Relay for Life," Tschanen said.
The benefit was staged at the Alpine second year, raising $5,000, but it was so well attended, the organizers needed to find another venue.

Bowling Transportation of Fostoria is to have this rig on-site at Commitment Care for Cancer benefit Saturday at Tiffin Moose.
Jim Speaker arranged for Tiffin AmVets to host the event for 2009. Another overflow crowd called for another move to Tiffin Moose for 2010 and 2011. Tschanen said those two benefits raised nearly $11,000 and more than $15,000, respectively.
"We have had great support from local businesses in their donations. We have had many monetary donations, plus we hold a silent auction and live auction throughout the evening. Many area businesses are very supportive. ... and we could not do it with out the many friends and family that have jumped on board to help. This year, F.A.C.T. board members are running the lunch stand for the evening," Tschanen said.
Nephews Jon Park and Brian Coppus are to share master of ceremonies duties for the evening with Jim Huffman and Kevin "Bubba" Brickner.
Dave Gase and Glenn Roddy, a local two-piece band featuring two-part harmonies, keyboards, guitar, drums and percussion, are to donate their talents, as they have in previous years.
New this year is an appearance of Bowling Transportation's pink-and-white "Trucking for a Cure" semi.
T-shirts can be purchased for $10 each.
There is no admission charge, but guests are encouraged to participate in the 50/50 raffles, silent auction, live auction and barrel of booze raffle.
Cash donations and prizes continue to come in. They include a 42-inch LCD TV; neon clocks; a three-day pass for two for Bowling Green Tractor Pulls; Cedar Point passes; autographed Cleveland Browns football; Cleveland Indians tickets; and a one-year membership to Fremont Rec Center.
