The 13th annual In Motion Dance Recital is set for 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at The Ritz Theatre in Tiffin. The theme for the 2012 show is "When I Grow Up." Some dances represent occupations, while others depict wishes or dreams.
About 340 Tiffin area dancers ages 3-18 are to perform many styles of dance, including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, cheer dance and musical theater.
Located at 636 Miami St., In Motion is owned and directed by Jennifer Karl. Her choreography, and that of the studio's other five instructors, is to be featured in the recital. The instructors include Laura Schalk, Sara Soni, Katie Lonsbury, Kiara Almendinger and Haylie Robinson.
Former instructor Karina Brown also has contributed choreography for the production.
The 24 dancers from In Motion's four competition dance teams are to be featured in the recital. The Mini Team includes ages 6-9; Junior Team, ages 9-11; Teen Team, ages 11-13; and Senior Team, ages 15 and older. These dancers participate in four dance competitions.
In addition, this is to be the final recital for four long-term dance students who have graduated from high school.
Danielle O'Quinn of Columbian High School has been a student since the studio opened in 1999.
Haylie Hartzel, a graduate of Mohawk High School and Sentinel Career Center, has studied nine years at In Motion.
Calvert graduates Casey Bruns and Libby Ewald
have been with the studio eight years.
These four plan to perform
a senior dance as a farewell.
Three 10-year students are to be recognized at the end of Saturday's show. They are Ashley Bell, Heather Bell and Lydia Bruno.
Each is to receive a personalized plaque and a $100 gift certificate that can be applied to next year's tuition.
"This is a huge accomplishment to commit to an activity such as dance for 10 years, and we feel these students should be spotlighted for their accomplishments, dedication and commitment," Karl said.
Tickets for "When I Grow Up" are $11.50 for adults and $7 for those 12 and younger. To obtain tickets, stop at 30 S. Washington St., or call (419) 448-8544.
