Tiffin natives Gerald and Heidi Vanover have expanded an online business into a storefront downtown.

G&H Trading Co. LLC opened May 1 across from The Ritz Theatre.

"We buy, sell and trade," said Heidi Vanover, who owns the store with husband, Gerald. "My husband has been buying and selling on E-Bay. It was just time to expand it and focus on the store."

The Vanovers pride themselves on offering a variety of items in a nice, clean store. Along with a limited supply of furniture, there are lots of antiques, as well as crafts made by Heidi.

"They're handmade originals," she said. "I like to repurpose things too."

The store features a "man cave" where males can find items of interest while their female counterparts browse antiques and crafts. Although items change frequently, Vanover said men might find hunting and fishing supplies, video game equipment, vintage video games, electric tools and beer signs.

One corner of the store contains a variety of name-brand clothing for sale, while another features decorative John Deere tractor items and still another area has a shelf full of books, CDs and DVDs.

Old china sets and antique bottles from area businesses can be found on one shelf. The bottles have become conversation pieces. Examples might be from the Tiffin Brewery and other companies that used to call Tiffin and nearby towns home.

"I have learned so much from the community," Vanover said. "I didn't expect the outpouring of knowledge and support. It's been wonderful."

The store is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Parking is available in the rear of the building, and there are entrances both front and back.
