Ritz Players earn
awards from OCTA
An excerpt of The Ritz Players production of "Doubt, A Parable" fared well at the Ohio Community Theatre Association Northwest Regional showcase. The drama was awarded outstanding in ensemble acting, and the excerpt was chosen to be presented at a state showcase Labor Day weekend in Columbus.
In addition, the following individual awards were given:
Outstanding in acting - Dianne Pytel, Brad Rowe, Valerie Thomas.
Excellence in acting - LaRae Seay.
Outstanding in directing - Nancy Steyer.
Family fun on the Fourth
Those staying near home for July 4 can pack a picnic and some chairs and head out to Hedges-Boyer Park for the day.

Participants needed for 'Fostoria's Got Talent'
FOSTORIA - The annual July 4 celebration in Fostoria is to open at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Meadowlark Park. From 6-8 p.m., area residents are invited to compete in "Fostoria's Got Talent."
In the past, the competition was limited to vocalists, but this year's contest is open to all kinds of entertainment.
Participants can register in advance in the mayor's office or 2-5:30 p.m. the day of the event at the park's amphitheater. There is no cost to register.
Age groups are: 5-12, 13-18 and 19 and older. One winner from each category is to receive $100, $50 or $25 in gift cards and a prize package.
Festivities include food, rides for children on the Pumpkin Vine Railroad and live music by Klashing Black (2 p.m.), Jay King (3 p.m.) and LaMarr Ferguson (4 p.m.). After the talent contest, Danielle and the Hanson Brothers are to perform 8:15-dusk.
A fireworks display is to conclude the celebration.

Cast needed for 'Annie'
SANDUSKY - Sandusky State Theatre has scheduled auditions for the summer production of the musical "Annie" at 6:30-8:30 p.m. July 5 and 6 and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. July 7. All roles are open.
Director Bill Quinlan is seeking children, teens and adults ages 7-75 for all roles. Production dates are Aug. 16, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m.
