VOW to hire a hero

July 17, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

By welcoming the American Veterans Traveling Tribute participants to the area, Ohioans in Seneca and Hancock counties are showing the deep gratitude we owe to service members, veterans and military families, as mentioned in a recent Advertiser-Tribune editorial ("Thanks to you, they're welcome," July 12).

We all have a role in ensuring veterans and their families have the resources and benefits they've earned. That's why Congress passed and President Barack Obama signed the VOW to Hire Heroes Act into law.

This law includes the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program, a provision that provides unemployed veterans between the ages of 35 and 60 the chance to train for a new, high-demand career.

If you or a veteran in your family needs assistance in applying for VRAP, securing Veterans Affairs health care benefits or medals, then do not hesitate to contact my office at (888) 896-OHIO (6446) or www.brown.senate.gov.
