BLOOMVILLE - Smokin' Country Concert, scheduled for early August, is to be postponed.

Performers who had been scheduled to perform at the second annual event near Bloomville included Reba McEntire, Gary Allan, Montgomery Gentry, Ronnie Dunn and Eric Church.

"To all the wonderful country fans, sponsors, vendors, media partners and supporters of Smokin' Country Concert, we are saddened to announce that this year's Smokin' Country Concert has been postponed till further notice. All we can say at this point is that the event had poor ticket sales and we are forced to reschedule the event date," according to an email from Ted Heckman, operations manager.

Tickets are to be honored for the rescheduled event date. The email encouraged people to put their tickets in a safe place and treat them as cash because new tickets are not to be issued for the rescheduled event.

A new date for the event, originally scheduled for Aug. 1-4, was not announced Wednesday. Several messages were left for Heckman Wednesday but were not returned.

"We would like to say thank you to Cole Farms for allowing us to hold the event at their great venue and working with us to move the event date," Heckman's email stated. "We are sorry for any inconvenience and are looking forward to providing you with the best possible event we can."

Last year, the first year for Smokin' Country Concert, featured artists such as Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore and Little Texas.
