Ritz Theatre selling subscription packages

Subscription sales are under way for the upcoming season at The Ritz Theatre.

Flex package subscriptions went on sale Monday. Flex patrons can choose three or more shows from the 2012-13 season and buy those tickets at a 20 percent discount. Subscribers have the opportunity to buy before tickets go on sale to the general public Aug. 6.

Mood setters
The Friends of Meadowbrook are inviting all to a “rockin’ electric blues” concert by Rude Mood 8-11 p.m. Saturday. The Fremont band will be playing in the Evergreen Shelter at Meadowbrook Park in Bascom. Coolers are welcome for the BYOB event; attendees should bring their own seating. OSU football tickets part of raffle from Pantry Plus

FOSTORIA - Pantry Plus Food Bank in Fostoria is conducting an Ohio State football ticket and basket raffle 8:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at Tiffin Mall's bingo hall.

Raffle tickets may be purchased by sending check or money order to Pantry Plus of Seneca County, 115 S. Main St., Fostoria, OH 44830, by emailing jsherer

Four winners are to receive two tickets each to one of four Ohio State home football games. A large basket full of Ohio State goodies also is to be given away.

Raffle tickets are $1, seven for $5, 15 for $10, 75 for $50 or 150 for $100.

Antique machinery shown

FINDLAY - Vintage farm equipment, demonstrations, tractor pulls, a flea market, games, food and entertainment are to be featured at the Antique Machinery Show 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today through Sunday at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 1017 E. Sandusky St., Findlay.

Hundreds of gas engines and tractors of all sizes are to be on display. Parking is free.

'Titanic' has 3 more shows

UPPER SANDUSKY - The Star Players are to present "Titanic, The Musical" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at 121 W. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky.

Music studio students to present summer recital

FREMONT Students of Gabel Music Studio are to give a summer recital at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the recital hall at Terra State Community College.

The evening is to begin with a processional led by Theresa Reyes.

Sing-A-Majigs from Lakota High School are to sing the National Anthem. The group includes piano students Gates McGough, Carlee Conrad, Caris Conrad and Kyleigh Harris.

Following a welcome by Mary Gabel, there is to be a flag presentation to families of veterans during a performance of "America the Beautiful" with accompanist Cindy McGough.

The recital is to continue with a variety of musical selections from Gabel's students, including a special polyphonic duet rendition of "Pachelbel's Canon" played by Anna Brubaker and Ann Gutschalk.

An added feature to this year's recital is a performance by guest artist and jazz pianist Michael Shirtz.

The recital is free.

Balloon festival returning

FINDLAY - The 2012 Flag City BalloonFest is set for Aug. 10-12 at Emory Adams Park, Findlay.

The event opens at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10 with a balloon flight and illumination. A classic car show, games, activities and food are on the schedule for Aug. 11, with the balloons lifting off for home Sunday morning.

'Cookie Classic' to help Fremont-based charity

CLYDE - Heartbeat of Fremont is to host its inaugural Cookie Classic Bike Ride and Classic Car Show beginning at 9 a.m. Aug. 11 in downtown Clyde.

Bikers can choose from two separate bike rides along the North Coast Bike Trail, enjoying locally made cookies along the way.

All attendees are invited to enjoy the classic car show and other events, including music by Classic Trendz, taking place downtown starting at 10 a.m.

Youth theater festival arrives Saturday at The Ritz

For the second consecutive year, in conjunction with the Ohio Community Theatre Association, The Ritz Theatre is to present OCTAFest Junior 2012, a theater festival for youth groups from community theater companies statewide.

Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., seven theaters are to present 45-minute excerpts of shows presented in their season.

Theater groups are to be arriving from Wadsworth, North Ridgeville, North Royalton, Wooster, Mansfield, Newark and Maumee.

Excerpts are to include presentations from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," "Ragtime," "Seussical The Musical Jr.," "Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr." and "Guys and Dolls Jr."

Individuals wishing to watch any or all of the performances can pay $10 at the door.
