GOLF: The team of Sam King, Ron Mellott, Bill Dunlop and Gene Sherer shot 5 under to win the Thursday Retirees League at Seneca Hills. Jim Ruess ended closest to the pin at No. 18, and Mellot had the long putt at No. 12.

COLUMBIAN: The mandatory OHSAA informational meeting for middle and high school student athletes and their parents is Monday at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. At least one parent and the student-athletes must attend.

FOSTORIA: The mandatory OHSAA meeting for all 7-12 grade Fostoria Junior/Senior High School student athletes is Sunday at 2 p.m. in the gym. All student athletes and parents must attend.

BASEBALL: The Legends of the Fall Baseball League is taking applications for prospective baseball players in grades 9-12 for the Fremont Ross High's fall baseball program. Applications will be accepted until Aug. 31. Cost is $60. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Players should bring all equipment needed to play except their jersey. MOHAWK: Junior high volleyball practice begins Tuesday, with seventh graders going from 8-10 a.m. and eighth graders going from 5:30-7:30 p.m. All paperwork must be completed before the first day of practice.

BOWLING: The Alley Cats will hold an organizational meeting Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. New teams are welcome.

INDOOR HITTING: The Fremont Batting Range is signing up teams for its winter hitting leagues, which start in January. There are divisions for four-person 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U for baseball and softball, as well a two-person open division. Cost is $42 per player for the four-person league, and $32 per player for the two-person league. For more information, call (419) 334-9455.
