Re-elect Obama

August 7, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

Education is an important issue to me. That is why I am writing this note to my community and neighbors. My background as a retired educator has given me a unique understanding of our nation's educational system. I have seen several policies come and go, but I seldom have seen a policy that has affected education in a real and positive way until President Barack Obama signed the Recovery Act in 2010.

The Recovery Act supported roughly 300,000 education jobs! This policy not only kept the student/teacher ratio low, it also saved vital jobs for some of the hardest-working people in our society. Being a retired teacher, I know how fulfilling it is to educate our youth. I believe Obama understands the same enjoyment I received for 25 years. He worked hard to make sure teachers can continue this public service by reforming No Child Left Behind mandates, which gave greater flexibility to local school districts.

I am supporting Obama for re-election because he is working hard to make sure our children are educated. I also believe he is working hard to make sure we all have a fair shake, from educating our children to protecting our senior citizens' Medicare guarantee. Please consider Obama for re-election, I believe he is the right man for the job!

Sincerely,

Vera Smith, Tiffin
