I am writing in response to Joe Weaver's letter referencing (Department of Health and Human Services) mandate and Obamacare. As a fellow Catholic and proponent of freedom, I took up his offer of writing a response.
Knowledge is power. All that we hear is "get out and vote," but I disagree with that. We must first pray and then educate ourselves before we go to the voting booth. America is in the situation it is because so many just "went out and voted." They did not do their homework. They knew nothing about the candidates and issues they voted for. If they did, they probably would not have voted for them. Know your candidate, know their track record (what they have done in the past). Do not listen to the likes/glamour that they pretend to promise.
America was founded on Christian principles by people who had morals and values. We need to get Christ back in America, back in politics, back in our lives and work on getting BIG government out! Most humans do not like being told what to do, so it baffles me as to why so many vote for more rules and regulations and politicians that make or support these rules and regulations. With all of the laws being created every day, what you do today may make you a criminal tomorrow. We need to get back to the basics of our founding fathers. They set up everything for us. They did the legwork. We do not need to re-invent the wheel. We need leaders who believe in the Constitution, state rights, and individual freedoms (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness). Nothing else much matters.
The time is now. Every American needs to get on their knees and pray and then go out and study up on each candidate and issue and only then go out and vote. This is the only way any difference will ever be made. If after doing all of this, anyone feels like they are being called to public service, please throw your hat in. We need a real candidate on the ballot this fall.
Sincerely,
Sarah Hess, Tiffin
