Model A club coming to area

Saturday, members of a chapter of the Penn/

Ohio Model A Ford Club, based in the Ashland-Mansfield area, are to arrive in Tiffin in their vintage vehicles around 10 a.m. to visit the Civil War museum.

After lunch at G&W Restaurant, they are to stop at St. Francis at 1:30 p.m. to see the straw bale house.

The final stop is to be Gillmor Ordinance in Old Fort.

Trip organizer Carol Davis said the group likes to travel on one-lane roads as much as possible. Someone drives the chosen route in advance to learn of detours and other hazards that may not appear in the road atlas or on a GPS. Members spend the evening driving back home.

Market returns to downtown

The fourth Downtown Tiffin Farmers' Market, sponsored by the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Services. is set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday on Washington Street between Market and Perry streets.

More than 25 vendors are to offer a variety of seasonal fresh produce, baked goods and more. Jaysen Scherger, "the T-Town DJ," is to provide entertainment.

Legion to host car, bike show

FOSTORIA - A

picnic and car and bike show are scheduled noon-8 p.m. Sunday at Fostoria American Legion, 1201 Perrysburg Road, Fostoria.

Judging it to take place at 2 p.m., with awards handed out at 4 p.m. A corn hole tournament also is to begin at 2 p.m. Music by Spitunes Band is to start at 3 p.m.

The picnic is to feature Jason Carter's pulled pork, spare ribs and barbeque chicken.

Balloon festival this weekend

FINDLAY - The 2012 Flag City BalloonFest is to open at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Emory Adams Park, Findlay. Balloons are to be illuminated at dusk.

A classic car show, games, activities and food are on the schedule for Saturday, with balloons departing Sunday morning.

Final verandah concert on tap

FREMONT - North Coast Big Band is to perform Wednesday for the final 2012 Verandah Concert at the Hayes Presidential Center.

The free outdoor concert begins at 7 p.m.; an ice cream social precedes the show at 6:45 p.m.

Bring seating. In the event of thunderstorms, the event will be canceled.

The center is at Hayes and Buckland avenues, Fremont.

TORCM to host annual air show

Tiffin Radio Control Modelers have planned its annual Big Bird Fly-In, featuring model aircraft, Aug.18-19 at the group's flying site on CR 38, east of SR 101.

Aug. 18, flying is open to large-scale models only; many are to be powered by gasoline engines in excess of 50 cc.

Aug. 19, flying is open to model airplanes of all sizes.

Spectators are welcome. Admission and parking are free. Refreshments are to be available.
