Thanks for caring, cleaning
Two groups of individuals will be out and about early this morning assisting two good causes.
Volunteers were to meet beginning at 8 a.m. at shelter 5 in Hedges-Boyer Park to register for the Sandusky River Clean Sweep. After cleaning up along the scenic state river from 9 a.m. yo noon, the volunteers are to gather at the shelter for lunch, prizes, T-shirts and goody bags.
Also this morning, motorcyclists could register at Tiffin Amvets, 1909 S. SR 100, from 9 to 10 for the Hawgs for Dawgs Poker Run, a benefit for the Humane Society of Seneca County. Although "Hog" is a nickname for an American brand of Big Twin bikes, motorcycles of all kinds are welcome.
The registration fee of $20 includes a T-shirt for the first 100 riders, dinner, door prizes and a poker hand. The poker run is to start at 10:15 a.m., with riders returning by 4:30 p.m. Live music is to follow the meal.
For those reading this early in the morning, there still may be time to join either effort. Our hat is off to those who do.
