JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL: Calvert's seventh grade team beat Bucyrus, 25-8, 25-8, behind 12 aces from Ashley Reinhart, 10 aces from Kennedy Smith and seven from Elayna Kapelka.
n Calvert's eighth grade topped Bucyrus, 25-18, 25-13. Sidney Felter had 11 aces for Calvert, while Allie Beckley and and Kristan Bowers had two kills each. Madison Jones had five aces while Alexi Nelson had four.
JV GOLF: Katie Bogner shot a 57 for Columbian, leading the Tornadoes to a 233-238 win over Shelby.
GOLF: In the Amvets League at Seneca Hills, the team of Dick Hiser and Bob Haefling are in first. Prize hole winners were Ron Burkett (closest to thw No. 13 pin), Steve Schafer (long putt, No. 16) and Dave Meyers (long putt, No. 17).
n The team of Larry and Chad Cole lead overall in the Thursday night Tiffin YMCA 2-Man Scamble League with 91 1/2 points. Prize holes went to Andy Stephey (closest in two on No. 1) and Lee Correll (long putt, No. 5).
n Hershey, Ron Burkett, Bob Barchus and Sam King were two-under par to win Monday's Retiree's League at Seneca Hills. Prize winners were Gene Sherer, with the long putt on No. 10; Hershey, who was closest to the pin on no. 16; and Frank Michniak, who had the low gross of 32.
n The Stephanie Fries Hoover Memorial Golf Scramble was Aug. 18 at Nature Trails Golf Course. The winner in the morning was the team of Denny Brickner, Dave Coppus and T.J. Fries. The winner in the afternoon was the team of Jim Feasel, Andy Ramsey and Klint Tompkins. The men's longest drive was made by Aaron McQuiston and the women's longest drive was made by Whitney Fries. * In the Jeffrey Jewelry Monday Night 2-Man Best Ball League at Seneca Hills, Gerry Frederick and Denny Wise had the low round with 33. The team also leads the league's third-third.

RUNNING: Calvert graduate Zach Szablewski competed in the Leadville Race Across the Sky 100 Mile Trail Run this past weekend. He finished in 26 hours and five minutes, which was good enough for 96thplace out of 802 runners.
n The Clyde Kiwanis Club is to sponsor the third annual Alexa Brown Memorial 5K Run/Walk Sept. 22 in downtown Clyde.
