Old Fort rally falls short

OLD FORT - Down by four goals in the second half against Lake, Old Fort rallied to get within one, only to see the Flyers score again in the final minutes to claim a 7-5 victory.

Austin Hall scored three times for Lake, and Jeremy Lilias' goal in the 33rd minute gave the Flyers a 4-1 lead going into the half.

A Hall goal early in the second half made it 5-1, before Old Fort's Cole Davidson scored off a Marc Salas assist to make it 5-2.

Lake's Damon Plummer gave the Flyers a 6-5 lead in the 21st minute of the second half before Old Fort made its comeback.

Brad Heilman started the rally with a goal off another Salas assist about a minute after Plummer's goal. Davidson scored his third goal of the game (off another Salas assist), then Salas scored a goal himself to make it 6-5.

But Lake's Nathan Francis thwarted the rally with a goal with five minutes left to close the scoring.

Tito Lopez finished the game with 10 saves for Old Fort, which fell to 0-3.

Calvert drops season opener

Calvert dropped its season opener to Marion Harding 10-0. Ian Soule had a hat trick to lead the Presidents. Sebastian Walker had two goals while Eduardo Diaz, Dillion Haskins, Quentin McComas Noel Diaz and Austin Casto all added goals.

Harding outshot Calvert 26-4.

For Calvert, Michael Bennett stopped 16 Harding shots. Zach Dutro had 11 blocks.

"It was our first game, we played pretty tough the first half," Calvert coach Mike Fabrizio said. "With our low numbers, we got a little fatigued and made a few mental mistakes, but we fought throughout the entire game. I was proud of the effort they gave."

Zettler's goals lead Edison over TC

MILAN - Eli Zettler scored a pair of goals to lift Edison over Columbian, 4-2 Tuesday in Milan.

Zettler and Lucas Munroe each scored a first half goal for the Chargers, only to see Columbian cut the lead when Christian Kiesel cut the lead in half with a goal in the 49th minute. John Obringer assisted on the goal.

Zettler extended the Chargers' edge with a goal in the 57th minute, before Kiesel cut their lead to 3-2 with a goal off a penalty kick in the 66th minute.

But a late goal by Edison's Billy Cummings put the game away. Tyler Damante assisted on the goal.

The Chargers outshot the Tornadoes, 21-17. TC goalkeeper Josh Gibson had 17 saves.

Columbian fell to 1-3.

Mohawk falls to Findlay

SYCAMORE - Findlay shut out Mohawk's girls, 8-0 on Tuesday.

The Warriors trailed 3-0 at the break before Findlay broke it open in the second half.

The Warriors were outshot, 17-1 in the contest.

Mohawk goalkeeper Liz Runion had nine saves.

Norton, Wildcats hand Rams first loss

LIMA - Caleb Norton scored three times, Austin Ricker scored twice and Lima Bath downed Upper Sandusky's boys soccer team, 7-0, Tuesday.

Logan Rockhold also had a goal for the Wildcats to go along with two assists. Connor Rockhold also had two assists, while Bath teammate Michael Caron scored a goal.

Bath outshot the Rams, 24-8. Rams goalkeeper William Amert had 12 saves as Upper Sandusky fell to 3-1.

Bath improved to 4-0.
